Morgan’s having more fun at the playground these days. Unfortunately, if this reaches the nominating committee, it could impact our running for “parents of the year”. This particular outfit had less friction than we’re accustomed to, so we let her fly off the end of the blue slide not once but twice.

Morgan sat quite happily at Sine with Jim & me yesterday for a reasonably long time. We ordered a chicken quesadilla for her, which she ate, spices and all. We also ordered some fries, which she loves. She was coloring a bit (which is still really more jamming the crayon onto the paper, as opposed to controlled scribbling). And, as we were leaving she stopped to pet a dog. Grandparents Wetzel have a dog and we had just spent two nights down there, so I think she was feeling particularly bold. But she was very gently petting it (I asked the owner and he said the dog was quite patient with kids, including his own 4 year old). It was too cute.
She has also taken an interest in an old cellphone. She’ll hold it up to her ear and say things that approximate ‘hello.’ And she loves to push the buttons and make things happen on the screen. Occasionally she gets the camera activated, which makes a satisfying shutter sound when she takes a photo.
She has started brushing her hair with the hairbrush. I was trying to comb her hair with my comb this morning (she had a knot that the baby-soft hairbrush was useless against). She took the comb out of my hand and immediately started trying to comb her hair herself.
She’s getting big quick. She is so different now than even two weeks ago. It is unbelievable.

Morgan started blowing kisses awhile ago. They were teaching her this at daycare. She has now noticed that she can make interesting things happen with her voice, so the whole thing is shifting from blowing kisses to just making noise.
She has also started waving more reliably.

As expected, Thursday’s tentative standing and toddling pretty immediately led to full walking.
